11 GRAMS of ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS

Protein is comprised of 20 amino acids. These amino acids can be classified as essential and non-essential (9 vs 11, respectively). The essential amino acids (EAAs) must be consumed, whereas the non-essential amino acids can be made in the body.

Athletes looking to build muscle and improve recovery after a solid workout should pay close attention to their EAA intake. Research shows that EAAs are the key triggers for muscle protein synthesis, which leads to muscle repair and growth.

PRO RECOVERY provides 11 grams of EAAs per serving. This is a key, research-supported amount of EAAs to drive muscle protein synthesis (muscle building) rates up!

2.4 GRAMS of LEUCINE

Of all the EAAs, LEUCINE has been shown to stimulate muscle protein synthesis on its own. LEUCINE is one of three of branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) and is at the centre of sports nutrition research. Higher concentrations of LEUCINE when combined with the other BCAAs and EAAs have been shown to be more favourable for muscle protein synthesis. PRO RECOVERY provides additional LEUCINE to help amplify results when compared to other protein powders.

Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid that has been shown to increase muscle glycogen (energy stores) after a workout, support strength recovery and decrease muscle soreness. Glutamic acid is also a non-essential amino acid that serves as a precursor to glutamine production. Each serving of PRO RECOVERY provides 4.3 grams of glutamine and glutamic acid to help fast-track recovery and prepare your body for the next intense workout to come.

1 GRAM of GLUCOSAMINE HYDROCHLORIDE

Hard-training athletes need to be cognizant of their joint and cartilage health. Weightlifting and high-impact sports can put added strain on both. PRO RECOVERY provides a gram of Glucosamine Hydrochloride to help build cartilage and support joint function, maintenance, and repair.

400 MG of MEDIUM-CHAIN TRIGLYCERIDES

Medium-Chain Triglycerides (MCTs) are fatty acids primarily found in coconut oil. Due to their shorter length, MCTs are rapidly absorbed and easily metabolized in the body (when compared to longer chain fatty acids). This provides the body with a quick and direct energy source when in a depleted post-workout state. MCTs have also been shown to boost metabolism and even support fat-burning efforts. Each serving of PRO RECOVERY provides 400mg of MCTs per serving.

    How Much Protein Should I Consume a Day?

    The minimum requirement for protein per day is 0.36 grams per pound of body weight a day for adults (based on the Recommended Dietary Allowance). For those engaged in strenuous activity, such as weight training, this requirement can be much higher. Research suggests that athletes should consume 0.68 to 0.8 grams per pound of body weight a day. Whereas athletes who are following a calorie-restricted diet may need higher amounts (1.2 to 1.5 grams per pound of body weight a day).
